Mother's Apron & Spoon
2019
Old Wood Frame, Old Cloth Apron, Cast Iron Spoon and Thread.  Text on Back

Work Statement: The idea of collective memory stays with us; it is in the bones of us all.  As my hands move across the fabric of my mothers apron, there are holes, the fabric is worn.  I remember her standing in the kitchen cooking,  "working", making sure we were well cared for and fed. My mother always wore an apron. The spoon which I have is well loved, is a reminder of her many meals.  I taste her tongue on the spoon. I cook with it, it continues to connect me to my mother, my history, our collective  history.
