Work Statement: Since lockdown began in NYC nearly a year ago I've kept a journal. Through writing and reviewing the journal entries I realized how necessary physical markers of time became as each day blended into the next. The scar on the back of my hand was a constant reminder of brighter days working with people in a larger studio setting and the work injuries we grew accustomed to, as well as how much time had passed as my skin scabbed, scarred, and finally healed. Watching my hand work to repair itself in the midst of a pandemic was an ironic indication of how long it can take for our bodies to heal and how infrequently we afford ourselves that time.
